A few days ago I went to Copenhagen!
It's a pithy we left the first of August because the fashion week started the third of August! Plus, we actually needed two extra days... Good excuses to return next summer!
But what a lovely city. Though it's not as cosy as amsterdam, it often made me think of it.
This is a photo of the "candy houses" in Nyhavn...
More fairytales in the Tivoli gardens (way too expensive by the way)...
We went to the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek. It's a museum with mainly sculptures, from the Egyptians, Etrusks and Romans but also Danish and French sculptures from the nineteenth century (Degas, Rodin, Dubois).
It was strange to see Degas' most famous ballerina sculpture there, because I also saw it a week earlier in Musée d'Orsay in Paris. There must have been made some copies of his work I guess...
There also were a few rooms with French paintings. The museum was a real labyrinth, not easy to find what we wanted to see!
Some French sculptures:
We also went to the design museum, which is lovely. It's a survey from the 16th -21st century.
There was a Mucha poster, I really love art nouveau posters!
Also, the architecture is wonderful! The opera, the theatre, the library and the houses we saw during the harbour boat tour, they were lovely!
But above all, Copenhagen is the fashion capital of Scandinavia -though I've never been anywhere else in Scandinavia-. Is it their blond hair, the cool climate or are Danish girls simply born with more fashion-braincells? I didn't make any photos of the inspiring street style, simply because I never dare to ask... And en cachette is certainly not my piece of cake :)
However, I loved shopping there. Guess my wallet didn't ;) Most clothes are expensive, even vintage...
Would you like my next post being a " Copenhagen shopping guide"?
